AAAAHHHHHHHH, Minnesota in the Springtime!

On such a blustery day, it's best to start by talking gifts. For Mothers. This Sunday, May 9th is Mother's Day; this is your official reminder.

We categorized a few gifts for you, so you can speed right to her personality or area of interest:

She Likes Things Pretty: Most beautiful hanging basket in town, coolest garden hats She Loves Magic: Fairy garden, blown glass hummingbird feeder

She Is Practical: Pallina gloves, serrated garden scoop, Felco (last pair she'll ever buy) pruners

She Prefers the Sensual: Locally made Mirasol hand lotion, locally created necklaces, bracelets and earrings

She Goes for Big and Splashy: Recycled whiskey rain barrel, cedar garden bench with attached planter boxes, copper rain chain

She's Always Reading: Grow Great Grub, Shade, Wicked Plants

She is Busy but Wants a Great Garden: Garden consultation

She's a Veggie Gardener: A cedar raised bed and lots of heirloom veggies

She is Inspired by Color: Big (and small) colorful pottery, inspiring blooming shrubs and trees, lovely annuals to fill a window box.

You Have No Idea: Gift Card

As to gardening these days, if you have planted tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra or basil, sweet potato vine, begonia, impatiens, COVER tonight and tomorrow. If you have some in pots, bring them into the house, porch or garage.  This next week is looking nicer; it is getting close to time to start hardening off houseplants and warmer weather seedlings to bring outside.

After Mother's Day, the weather often warms enough to start thinking summer tropical bulbs, most annuals and planting up containers.

Hope to see you all soon!
