April
April 2, 2008
Sort of scared to say Happy Spring until the snow actually stops falling, but we are gearing up for spring at the store and have all kinds of cool new products to hype.
Before we get to that - our Winter/Spring seminars are wrapping up in April, and we've added TWO great new seminars. We've gotten great feedback about this first year of classes, they're an informative and inspiring way to spend a Wednesday evening. And, of course, they are free. The remaining classes are listed at the end of this newsletter.
By April 15 (maybe sooner?), we will have cold tolerant annuals on the lot! We've got a new organic potting soil to put your violas and pansies in, all ingredients are OMRI listed or certified by the National Organic Program.
If you are starting seeds inside before then, we've got everything you need, including organic seed starter, so new it's got a stapled-on label! We're also carrying plantable starter pots made of composted cow manure, called Cowpots.
Last year, we started carrying recycled rain barrels, and we will have them again this year. The plastic ones are made from pickle barrels, wooden ones from whiskey barrels. We will also carry a larger, non-recycled option that will hold 75 gallons. Rain barrels, composters and red worm composting kits are available right now, with more coming throughout April.
April is the month to apply Corn Gluten Meal - when the forsythia are in bloom, scatter your gluten.
Bird feeders, bird houses and bird baths are now in stock, including some recycled cedar feeders made by Sanford job corps students.
And inside the store, we've got lots of lovely houseplants, fun and funky decor, interesting gifts, books, pretty pots...
Stop by the store for our free Earth Day scatter garden, April 19 through 22, and register to win one of three trees!
Our Spring hours are ever expanding, please check our website often, or give us a call. At this point in the season, we are open 7 days a week.
We're looking forward to seeing everybody at the shop, and like all of you, we can't wait to get outside!
